INITIATIVE BY CHAPTERS / NRB's

Bihar, in recent years, has witnessed good governance on all fronts and registered modest economic growth. The changes have persuaded many NRBs that perhaps the time has come to mull some sort of return or contribute in a more structured and meaningful way to the state’s reconstruction and development efforts. Here, we are listing some of these praiseworthy initiative.
 

INITIATIVES BY CHAPTER
APARNA : An initiative of Mumbai Chapter
People who had earlier migrated from Bihar and have carved out a place for themselves in the leather industry of Mumbai, are now returning back to contribute in the development of their motherland. APARNA is a proposed leather hub at Fatuha, Patna with an investment of Rs. 43.6 crore and direct employment to 2000 workers. More than 600 micro, small and medium sized entrepreneurs are expected to invest in the hub. The proposed leather hub is being developed by Aparna Industrial Promotion Council, an organisation established by the members of the Bihar Foundation Mumbai Chapter.
It is expected to be the largest organized soft luggage cluster in India. It is also expected to pave ways for reverse migration and be a model for future industrial complexes of Bihar

Diamond cutting and Polishing Centre: 
An initiative of Mumbai Chapter
Srenuj and Company limited, a prominent diamond company was pursuaded to setup a diamond cutting an dpolishing unit in Patna, Bihar. The company started it's operation in may 2014. As per DPR it's investment are Rs. 44 crore and direct employment to 1395 persons.

A Building for Cancer Patient, Nerul (Navi Mumbai)
Bihar Mitra Mandal (BMM) is an organisation formed in the year 1996 at Nerul, Navi Mumbai for integration of Non Resident Biharis (NRB) in Mumbai Maharashtra. After inauguration of the Mumbai Chapter of the foundation,BMM decided to be a partner/affiliate of the chapter.  

It is a 10000 sq. feet, 3 storey building which has dormitory accomodation for 40 patient, common facility area, multipurpose hall and a common kitchen. 

Free cataract operation: An initiative of USA chapter
Bihar Foundation USA have raised USD 15,000 for a health project aimed at providing needy people in their home state free eye care treatments, including operations in Sri Sai Lions Netralaya in 2018

INITIATIVES BY NRBs

Amit Kumar Das – Moti Babu Institute of Technology, Forbesganj
Amit Kumar Das, who lives in Sydney (Australia), is setting up an engineering college, two schools and a hospital in Mirdaul, Forbesganj. The foundation stone for his Rs 110-crore engineering college, Moti Babu Institute of Technology, was laid in 2010 on a 14-acre land he bought from the government for Rs 60 crore. His Isoft has tied up with TAFE (Training and Further Education), South Australia, for exchange programmes and faculty visits, and with Outreach Consultancy, an Australian project management firm, to oversee construction of an R&D Centre.
The college will have two schools in its vicinity: one will come up on four acres and will be a kilometre away from the college. This is to encourage qualified teachers for the engineering college to relocate to the village; their wards can study at this school. The other, spread across 25 acres, will be a residential school for children of the villagers.

Omer Hejazeen – Haji Omer Yasin Asim Memorial Institute of Technology, Darbhanga
Haji Omer Yasir Asian (Hoya) institute of Technology, Darbhanga is being built by Omer Hejazeen, an entrepreneur based in UAE. The total area of the campus will be 49 acres. It will have all the modern amenities and state of the art technology. As per the architectural Layout and initial plan, campus will have an auditorium which can accommodate more than 1000 people. All the classrooms will be fitted with interactive smart boards and wireless projectors and large screens. Entire campus will be WIFI enable. To promote best practice, solar panels, water processing for wastewater and solid waste. Admission will be based on merit. An initial LIO is signed with Harriot- Watt University, Scotland to develop curriculum and for student exchange program. The institution will be run by MEW Trust with parallel advisory board, consist of scholars from different fields. The College is anticipated to start admission in 2023.

Shakil Ahmed Kakvi – Kainat International School, Jehanabad
Kainat International School, affiliated to CBSE has been built by Shakil Ahmed Kakvi at his native village Kainat Nagar, Kako Distt, Jehanabad Bihar for quality education in 2009.

Obaidur Rahman – Evacuation of Biharis
Shri Obaidur Rahman, Chairman Saudi Arab Chapter  helped almost 500 Biharis reach back their home in Aug, 2016 after “Saudi Oger”, one the largest company went bankrupt before leaving them  barehanded.
